After months of planning, designing and DIYing, the time has finally come to share our baby boys twin nursery! This room is my favorite room in the house. It is the first room I walk into every morning. It has turned out exactly how I have ensivision it and I am so thrilled to finally be able to share it with you!
I still cannot believe that in few short weeks I will finally be meeting my twin baby boys! It is still surreal that I am growing two babies. When we found out out we were expecting, we were going to use one of the smaller spare rooms we have in our house. Then we got a surprise of our lifetime – we were expecting twins and that changed all of our plans!
Planning & Designing
Anytime I have to re-create or design a space I like to create a mood board. A mood board helps you envision how all the different pieces will tie together and help you envision what the space will look like. I had put one together for the twins nursery and this really helped me work and be able to recreate my vision.
When I started planning, I knew I wanted to either put up wallpaper or some form of millwork. We have always wanted to do board and batten so we figured why not DIY it in the nursery. The board and batten helped completely transform the entire room. It has turned out better then we have expected and to be honest we kind of want to do it in every room now!
Having an accent wall was also something I wanted so I figured why not do the wallpaper since I really wanted to incorporate it as well. We wanted the room to be really light, airy and neutral. Having the wallpaper on one wall gives us that pretty accent wall yet not overpowering or overwhelming the entire room.
Baby Nursery Closet DIY
The closet was also something that was important for us to re-do. We had a closet that had very limited storage space and these two awkward sliding doors which made getting thing out of the closet very difficult. We wanted to create a ‘custom’ looking closet without the price tag. With the help of the IKEA Pax Closet System, we were able to achieve just the look we were going for!
We got the perfect amount of storage and it turned out beautiful! We also incorporated the wallpaper in the closet we used for the accent wall since we plan on keeping it open. Having the wallpaper in the closet helped tie the room together and it makes the closet look pretty.
The Final Details
With all the renovations and DIYs complete, it was time to decorate this beautiful room! We didn’t really have a theme for the nursery. We wanted the room to be inviting, delicate (if that makes any sense), and whimsical like.
For the nursery decor, we decided to go with a more neutral option with hints of blue and touches of gold. The soft baby blue accents really make this nursery come together.
This gorgeous Nursery Chair is a glider, recliner and it swivels 360! It’s one of my favorite pieces of furniture in the nursery. It also comes in a few different colors as well!
The dresser is perfect to be used as a changing table. I also LOVE this mirror! It’s another one of my favorite items in this nursery.
I used the IKEA Skubb Boxes to organize all these drawers! You get 6 organizer cubes for $5! You cannot beat that. It helps keep everything organized and together.
When I saw these baby cribs, I just absolutely fell in love with them! We also purchased the conversion kit which allows the crib to grow with the boys.
The crib bedding is my absolute favorite! I waited over 2 months for these crib skirts to arrive and it was definitely worth the wait! They are handmade and they have the most prettiest selection.
These acrylic bookshelves is a perfect way to organize all the baby books. Since we already have two cribs in here, a dresser, a nursery chair we wanted to utilize the space as best as possible. Having the acrylic shelves helped create more space in the room while still being able to display the books. I also love how clean and uncluttered it make the room look.
This room is our favorite room in the house. My husband and I enjoy coming in here on a daily basis. Sometimes walking into this room gives me all sorts of emotions. We cannot wait to see our little baby boys make memories in here! We hope you love it as much as we do!
